This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service"). Hansolabs is a community platform designed to connect Indians living abroad with people from their home state and cultural background.

We collect information you provide directly to us when you:
- Create an account (phone number, name, profile photo)
- Complete your profile (bio, location, country)
- Post content (images, videos, text, polls, job listings, events, real estate listings, travel companion requests, business listings)
- Submit entries to photo or video contests (image or video files, optional caption)
- Cast votes and moderation reports on other users' contest entries
- Send messages through the chat feature
- Join or create groups
- Report issues or contact us for support
We also automatically collect certain information when you use the Service, including:
- Device information (device type, operating system, unique device identifiers)
- Usage data (features used, content viewed, interactions)
- Log data (IP address, access times, pages viewed)
- Location data (country/region, only if you permit it)
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage your account
- Provide, maintain and improve the Service
- Send push notifications (posts, messages, group activity)
- Enable communication between users
- Personalise your feed and recommendations
- Host photo and video contests, count votes, and announce winners

3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information in the following circumstances:
- With other users: Your profile, posts and group activity are visible to other users as intended by the platform.
- Service providers: We share data with third-party providers who assist us (cloud storage, push notifications, analytics). These providers are contractually bound to protect your data.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose your information when required by law or to protect our rights and the safety of users.
- Business transfers: In the event of a merger or acquisition, your data may be transferred to the acquiring entity.
4. Third-Party Services
Our Service uses the following third-party services which have their own privacy policies:
- Firebase (Google) — authentication and push notifications
- Cloudinary — image storage and delivery
- Bunny.net — video storage, transcoding and delivery (used for user-submitted videos and video contest entries)
- Twilio — SMS OTP verification
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) — cloud infrastructure, image file storage (S3), including contest cover images and photo contest entries
- MongoDB — database services
5. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You may delete your account at any time, after which we will delete or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except where required by law to retain it.
Media you upload (photos and videos, including contest entries) is stored with our media providers (AWS S3 for images, Bunny.net for videos) for as long as the corresponding post or contest entry exists. When you delete a post or entry, the associated media file is removed from our systems. Media in completed contests may be retained as part of the historical contest record.
6. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS), encrypted chat messages, and secure cloud storage. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Children's Privacy
Our Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Withdraw consent at any time
- Lodge a complaint with a data protection authority
